Tinker London, 2010

Tinker was commissioned by Wired Magazine to build an internet-connected display for their Christmas pop-up store in New York City. Over the course of two weeks, we built a kinetic sculpture based on the Wired logo.

Each letter in the logo is broken into smaller pieces; the pieces rotate independently, most of the time creating abstract movement. When people interact with the logo—either in the store by pressing a button or online by mentioning the store over Twitter—the pieces rotate to form two or three letters, stopping briefly before moving again. In order for the entire logo to be revealed, people at the physical location and online must work together.
